I thought I might do a longer walk today, and then phone to get Pp to come and pick me up at the end rather than doing a loop walk.
But! I had failed to plug my phone in. It was on 16% battery, which is a bit low if I'm relying on it to get my lift home.
I could not idly footle on the internet, because Theo had got up, and Theo, though not an early riser in any way, has strong views about internet use after he has finally hauled himself from his pit. Moving about is permitted as a necessary precursor to Walk, but sitting still will be greeted with grumbling, moaning, and The Paw.
I got so much cleaning and tidying done in the half an hour before the battery was charged enough to go out! Maybe I should accidentally fail to charge the phone more often.
I walked to Burton. It's only about 4 miles, and includes the only chunk of the Pembrokeshire coast path that regularly gets described as 'uninspiring'. I quite like it. It has a varied bunch of houses, Asda and Lidl sort of plastered over the top of what used to be a warship-building and fishing-harbour landscape, which still pokes out in places.
Setting off.

This rather grand path was the route to the old warship-building dockyard, and that building at the end was a military chapel. It's a museum now, and the lorries grinding past to the Irish ferry are routed round on the left.
Burton felt oddly English, and it took me a moment to work out that this is because Wales is generally pretty good on footpaths and pedestrian routes, but to get to Burton, I had to walk in the gutter along a busy rural road. (I hasten to add that Welsh footpaths are very often blocked, or in terrible repair, and nobody seems to consider this out of the ordinary. Footpaths over the border are fewer, but more likely to be actually working)
Burton has a popular pub, the Jolly Boatman, which was heaving with Sunday Lunchers, but they managed to find a cup of coffee for me to drink outside, admiring the view back across the river.
